Welcome to Wave’s End, a three-bedroom villa directly on exclusive Windermere Island’s pink sand beach, newly available to rent. Enter through the gate, and immediately be drawn to the foyer and its view, straight through the house, directly to the Atlantic. Before entering, note the generous terrace surrounding the lee side pool, shaded by market umbrellas. The terrace wraps the house, with an even larger space fronting the ocean. Both terraces have chaises along with dining tables and seating.
The great room’s large seating area includes a games table and overlooks the ocean terrace. On the west side of the great room is the dining area, overlooking the pool. The dining table seats eight. Note the great room is not air conditioned; myriad windows and doors around the room’s perimeter provide cross ventilation, supplemented by two large ceiling fans.
The ocean terrace is the perfect spot to watch the sun rise and enjoy breakfast, serenaded by the surf. Stairs and a boardwalk lead directly to the beach. Along the walkway is an outdoor shower for rinsing off sand. There are separate sand chairs and blankets for beach use.
A stereo system connects to MP3 players or phones or use the Bose blue tooth speaker to listen to music. While there is no television, loads of books, games, playing cards, and jigsaw puzzles in the small study adjacent to the great room provide entertainment. The study has a writing desk and monitor. Cell-based Starlink WiFi will keep you online.
There are three bedrooms, each with:
• Sliders that open onto the ocean terrace
• Blackout curtains that cover the sliders
• Ceiling fan
• Mini-split air conditioning
The bedrooms:
• Master: queen bed, w/ walk-in closet, en suite bath with two sinks, tub/shower combo, hair dryer. Located on the south end of the house, separate from the guest bedrooms.
• First guest bedroom: two X-Long twin beds, en suite bath with two sinks, large walk-in shower, hair dryer.
• Second guest bedroom: queen bed, en suite bath with one sink, large walk-in shower, hair dryer.
A powder room is off the south bedroom hallway.
For those who love to cook, the separate kitchen is very well-equipped (cooktop, oven, toaster oven, microwave, myriad small appliances) and has mini-split air conditioning. Off the kitchen is a laundry room with washer, dryer, ironing board, iron. An automatic generator powers the entire house for the rare power cut.
Daily three-hour maid service (except Sundays and holidays) is included, more can be arranged. A yoga teacher, beauty therapist, and masseuse will make house calls. A private chef can be arranged.
The pool is cleaned twice weekly by our caretaker, who is on call pretty much 24/7. He lives in nearby Savannah Sound and as he looks after other Windermere houses, he is very accessible should something need attention.
A 35,000-gallon rainwater cistern is the house’s primary water supply. At the main kitchen sink is a dedicated tap connecting an under-sink water filter/purifier (independently certified to meet US EPA standards for microbiological purifiers against bacteria, cysts, viruses, etc.) so no need for bottled water. As a back-up, the house is connected to the ‘city’ water supply
Guest membership at the Club at Windermere is included in your stay. A five-minute drive away, the Club has a pool, tennis and pickleball courts, TV room/library and a small well-equipped, air-conditioned gym available all year round, and in season, a restaurant and bar.
Savannah Sound borders Windermere’s west side where you’ll find a more secluded and calm beach with warm shallow waters, a seven-minute drive from Wave’s End.
For security and privacy, Windermere Island has a guard house is staffed 24/7.
Children under the age of 16 are not allowed at Wave's End. Age verification is required for teens.

The home is clean, bright and very well appointed. Tasteful furnishings, comfortable bedding and a well equipped kitchen enhanced the quality of our experience. The ultimate treat of course is the marvellous beach which goes on for miles. Clotilda, our housekeeper was diligent and delightful.

Comfortable beach house - and plenty of space. Beautifully decorated and a decent library of books. So that was all very good. The Windermere Club was a disappointment as the menu did not change and it was basically very quiet so no atmosphere in the restaurant Waves End had a few issues - the end bedroom showered did not work well, the safe did not work at all and the beds were really too small in width. Bed sheets should be cotton and pillows should be goose feathers. On the decking, the decking has protruding nails on the planks/ steps down to the beach - these need to be countersunk as they risk cutting a foot which really could be a nasty cut. Not safe for children and that needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency. The beach is lovely but it needs to be cleaned as there is a lot of plastic washed up on it - the Windermere Association should really clean the beach every few days to remove this rubbish as it spoils the beach when walking it. If not addressed then this will be a major negative for visitors in the years ahead. Overall a good stay and we would come again.

The boardwalk nails have been fixed. My staff has looked at the shower, but could find nothing wrong with it. How disappointing that the renter did not voice their concerns while at Wave’s End, as they could have been addressed immediately!
Bedding:
All of the sheets and pillow cases in the house are 100% cotton percale
The matelassé coverlets on each of the beds are 100% cotton
On the two queen beds are:
2 standard size down (a mix of duck and goose) pillows
2 standard size down alternative pillows, as some are allergic to down
2 Euro Square down alternative pillows
On each of the two XL Twin beds is:

The mattresses (Queen in two bedrooms, extra-long twins in the other) are all standard US sizes. UK mattress sizes vary from American mattress sizes!
Constant wave action will deposit trash, and sweep it away, especially when seas are rough. The owners association cleans the length of the beach once or twice a week, weather dependent, but given the amount of plastic in oceans worldwide, and constant wave action that will deposit and sweep away trash (especially when seas are rough) the chance of regularly cleaning every bit of plastic from the Windemere beach is a nonstarter.
As explained to Chapman prior to arrival, the Club schedule is dependent upon the number of members on the island. As it is not open to the public, it may very well be quiet when few members are on the island.

The property is beautiful and beautifully appointed. The description and pictures are spot-on. Everything was clean, well maintained and the daily cleaning person was very nice. Holly, the manager was outstanding. Twice we had issues with Wi-Fi (not the properties problem but the company) and Holly was checking it out and fixing it within minutes of contacting her. She is lovely and cheerful and a positive to the whole experience. We will defiantly be going back.
